Surrey streetlight scheme set to finish a year ahead of schedule
A scheme to replace Surrey’s orange streetlights with nearly 90,000 brighter energy-efficient lights is on course to finish almost a year ahead of schedule next April.
The project’s designed to save around £12 million over 25 years will also cut light pollution because the new lamps direct light downwards.
The new lamps are also controlled by computer so lighting can be varied as needed, rather than being turned on or off at fixed times of day.
