Dorking Fraud Arrest

A man’s been arrested in connection with a fraud against a man in his late 80s from Dorking.

Last Tuesday (3 February) the victim received a phone-call from a man posing as a police officer who asked the victim to call his bank following fraudulent activity on his account.

By leaving the phone line open, the same man was then able to pretend he was a bank clerk and requested the victim’s pin numbers before asking him to put his bank cards in an envelope for a courier to collect.

A short time later a taxi driver arrived to collect the envelope from the victim’s home address.

A man in his 20s was arrested in Fulham and has been released on bail until Wednesday, 18 March while the investigation continues.

Anyone who has information about who is responsible for these offences is urged to contact Surrey Police. Information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
