A busy pedestrian crossing in Ifield is set to be upgraded.
The proposed scheme will see the implementation of a toucan crossing on Ifield Avenue to the north-west of the A23.
Both cyclists and pedestrians will be able to activate it and detectors will be used to ensure traffic is held until pedestrians have finished crossing. LED displays will also be installed which are brighter yet have lower energy consumption.
The £25,000 upgrade has been proposed after complaints were received by Crawley Borough Council about the visibility of the signals, lack of time to cross and the brightness of the signal.
Funding has come from developer contributions as part of the Apple Tree Farm new homes development.
