Reigate MP Crispin Blunt has criticized yesterday’s announcement by the Ministry of Justice which proposes to close Redhill Magistrates’ and Family Court as well as Reigate County Court and Family Court.

It plans to move court proceedings to Guildford and Staines, as part of the Ministry’s efficiency savings programme.

Mr Blunt is keen to see alternative proposals as their closure would mean longer journeys to court for suspects held in custody in Salfords. He also considered it would reduce access to justice in East Surrey.

There’ll be a 12 week consultation before anything is decided
