Crawley Borough Council has its first Dementia Ambassador.
Councillor Brenda Smith of Langley Green was appointed to the role by Council Leader Peter Lamb.
Councillor Smith is the primary carer for her husband, Alderman Jim Smith, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2009.
The role will see her become a non-political ambassador to promote dementia services and champion the cause of the dementia-friendly community in Crawley.
Crawley’s been a leader in the dementia friendly movement over the past two years, improving service provision for people living with the condition.
