Surrey County Council claims ‘millions’ saved in pothole scheme

More than £7 million pounds has been saved during the first two years of a Surrey County Council scheme to make roads pothole-proof.

Operation Horizon aims to replace more than 300 miles of roads with surfaces which come with a 10-year repair guarantee.

The County Council claims smarter contracts and recycling has helped to save just over £3 million in the second year of the five year project.  Over £4 million was saved in the first year.
