Elderly residents in Tandridge are being targeted in a new phone scam.
Someone claiming to be from Tandridge District Council or the Valuation Office phones up offering residents a reduced council tax band and a refund if they pay a £65 fee.
They are asked to pay this fee by credit card.
There has been one resident so far who has given up their credit card details.
Tandridge District Council are reminding people they will never contact residents to ask for credit card, bank, or other personal details.
