As part of Tandridge Council’s ongoing plan to increase the availability of accommodation in the area, they last week announced that they were taking steps to compulsorily purchase an empty property in South Godstone.
The house, at no. 23 Easter Way has been empty for around 20 years and is falling into disrepair.
Despite repeated attempts to encourage the owner to either sell the house or bring it back into use, it has remained empty.
A council spokesman noted that there was a serious shortage of housing in Tandridge and that when renovated this house could provide a family home in a pleasant setting.
