Football Update

There was no League 2 action on Saturday due to the FA Cup.

In the Ryman League, Merstham lost 3 – 1 in their match with Kingstonian at Kingsmeadow. while East Grinstead recorded a comfortable 4 – nil home win against Walton & Hersham. South Park beat Dorking Wanderers 2 – nil at home but Three Bridges suffered a narrow 1 – nil home defeat to Corinthian Casuals.

Elsewhere, it was a goalless draw at Kiln Brow in Redhill’s match with AFC Hayes and goals galore with honours even at 3 all in South Park’s away match at Ashford Town.

Could you be a Snow Angel in Tandridge?

Volunteers are being recruited to help clear snow should it fall this winter.

Tandridge District Council is on the look-out for ‘Snow Angels’ to join volunteer groups throughout the region:

Bletchingley, Blindley Heath, Caterham on the Hill, Caterham Valley, Dormansland, Godstone, Limpsfield, Lingfield, South Godstone, Nutfield and South Nutfield, Oxted, Smallfield, Tatsfield, Warlingham and Whyteleafe.

As soon as snow is forecast, volunteers are contacted to help pre-salt pavements and then clear snow and ice.

Men arrested following drug raids in Horsham

Further arrests have been made in and around Horsham as part of a drive against drugs.

This week officers executed warrants in Cook Road, Horsham and Heath Close, Broadbridge Heath.

Two 19 year-old men were arrested; one from Croydon on suspicion of money laundering and the other, from Crawley, who was already wanted by police.

Sussex Motorists arrested in Christmas drink-drug driving campaign

Five motorists have been arrested in Sussex since the start of the Christmas drink and drug-driving campaign.

Two men from Crawley were among four arrests which were made on Tuesday – the very first day of the campaign.

A 25 -year-old from Grange Close was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and a 63-year-old from Langley Parade was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Both have been released on bail.

Help put a smile on faces this Christmas

Can you help bring a smile to patients in East Surrey Hospital this Christmas?

A resident from Horley is hoping to create hundreds of gift bags for elderly patients within the Redhill hospital as well as older people living across East Surrey.

Claire Osborne is asking people to donate a gift bag filled with small gifts which can be handed out just before Christmas.

Bags need to be donated by December 8th.

All items must be new and suggested presents include:

  • Soap and shower gel
  • Body and hand lotion
  • Biscuits
  • Chocolates and sweets
  • Slipper socks
  • Gloves
  • Pens
  • Calendars
  • Puzzle Books

o   All edible gifts must be completely sealed and in date.  Handmade edible items such as cakes etc. cannot be accepted.

  •         Gifts should be unwrapped in a small Christmas gift bag
  •         On the external gift tag please mark your bag as female,  male     or unisex
  •         How children can get involved: Ask them to make a Christmas card, ask them to write a message and sign it with their first name (only) and age.
