A couple from Langley Green were found guilty of two charges each, under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act at Hove Crown Court.

Gregers and Amanda Young were each given a 10 month prison sentence suspended for two years for producing false bank statements during an investigation by Crawley Borough Council.

The council had reason to believe that the couple were working and had failed to declare their income in support of benefit and housing applications.  

At an interview with the council, the couple provided bank statements which were found to be false.  

In addition to the sentence, Mr Young received a one hundred hour work order and they have both been removed from the Council’s housing register.
