By now many of us will have forgotten our new years resolutions.

But Surrey County Council reckon you should consider one more for the sake of your home.

They are suggesting that you create a household emergency plan to use in the event of problems such as flooding, loss of power or water and more.

You could even form a community group so that your whole neighbourhood is better prepared.

There is plenty of help available especially if you’re elderly or disabled and the council’s website – http://www.surreycc.gov.uk  – is a good place to start looking.
