Surrey County Council has received a record number of applications for school places this year.

More than 13,800 applications for primary school places were submitted this year; 215 more than a year ago. It was a similar story at secondary level, where 235 more applications were received than the previous year.

Surrey County Council has said they need to find more than 11,000 extra places in primary and secondary schools over the next five years.
