Merstham Cricket Club is inviting former players to take part in its annual Bank Holiday Open Day and Memorial Game on Sunday August 28.
Waitrose, sponsors of the ECB, promotes club open days and the Quality Street club chooses to combine this with a match in memory of those who have died and who have made substantial contributions to the club. The supermarket chain provide t-shirts, bunting, a Kwik Cricket set and money towards the cost of food, which will include a tea to be put together by Margaret Garrett, whose husband Terry was a long-standing committee member before his death early in 2015.
The day will have two matches. In the morning a combined U12s and U13s team will take on the U14s, starting at 10am. In the afternoon a game for adults will take place from 1pm, being 35 overs a side.
This is an excellent occasion for former players to turn out for a friendly match, or for retired players to enjoy a convivial day reviving memories with fellow former players and current members.
Anyone who wishes to take part can contact Merstham Cricket Club Communications Manager Ian Lamont at
ilamontnews@hotmail.com or by phoning 07719 391179.
