Roads in Surrey need £30 million worth of long-term improvement to keep them at their current level – money the Council doesn’t have.
Currently £44 million is spent on repairs each year, including potholes. However resurfacing and new drainage systems are an extra and therefore need to prioritised.
Earlier this year the Council began a 20 million pounds programme to rebuild 200 miles of pavements in the county after residents said they need better and safer walkways.
