Last week, heroes within the community of Sussex and Surrey were recognised at an awards ceremony.
Finalists from all nine categories including “999”, “Animal Welfare””, “Young Achiever” and “Sport”, attended the BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey Community Heroes Awards at the “Crowne Plaza Hotel” in Gatwick.
Chauffeur and personal assistant to the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, David Duke, was named winner of the Good Neighbour category after he and his wife, Sandra, were involved in a sea rescue off Brighton Marina, helping to save a life. He was handed his award by entertainer, Lionel Blair.
