A county-wide waste service was given the go ahead yesterday, which is claimed could save Surrey taxpayers between £8 million to £12 million a year.
The joint service will bring standard recycling and waste collections across the county. Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Surrey Heath and Woking have already saved £2 million a year by working together.
The plan is for the Council to combine its own waste duties with the four districts and boroughs to gain even more savings.
