Robots designed and programmed by young students across Sussex and Surrey were put through their paces on Friday at the FIRST LEGO League Tournament hosted by Gatwick.

Teams of 10, from 8 schools across the counties took part in the competition, in which they had 10 weeks to put together a robot along the theme of ‘Animal Allies.’

Their creations were tested in a set missions, while the teams were judged on their ability to build and program the robot, along with their research, teamwork and presentation skills.
