A memorial to 75 World War II pilots will be unveiled at Nutfield Memorial Hall.
The ceremony will take place on Friday 7th April when Air Commodore Clare Walton will unveil a memorial plaque to the 75 airmen who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II, when flying from RAF Redhill. Also in attendance will be the Defence Attaché representative of eight other countries whose men are included in the 75.
The memorial plaque contains the names of 71 of the airmen together with their rank and squadron and has been donated by Mike Garwood, Chairman of the Nutfield History Group. After researching the aerodrome, Mike Garwood found that there was no memorial, so he set about discovering the airmen’s details for the plaque.
