Surrey County Council has revealed the shortlist for an annual book award.
The Surrey Libraries’ Children’s Book Award celebrates the best fiction for readers aged seven to nine. Children from ten Surrey primary schools will read the shortlisted books and vote for their favourite. Among the ten schools involved are Langshott School in Horley and Sandcross School in Reigate.
Pupils will also get the chance to meet one of the authors or illustrators, and take part in the award ceremony when the winner is announced.
The five shortlisted books are:
- The Boy and the Globe by Tony Bradman
- Eddy Stone and the Epic Holiday Mash-Up by Simon Cherry
- Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot by Horatio Clare
- The Bolds to the Rescue by Julian Clary
- Dave Pigeon by Swapna Haddow and Sheena Dempsey
