As part of Nutrition and Hydration week, innovations in diet to boost the recovery of patients with brain impairment have been showcased at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
Clinicians have developed compact, fold-able ‘finger food’ boxes to supplement traditional meals. High calories foods such as shortbread, oatcakes and small slices of cake feature in these boxes.
Many patients with dementia can struggle to get the calories they need through conventional meals.
To mark each day of the awareness week this week, dietitians held a series of tea parties for each of the five care of the elderly wards at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
