Small businesses in Sussex say they’re struggling to survive due to crippling business rates.

Some report their bill has risen by as much as 428% for the new financial year.

The last time the rates were assessed was in 2010.  The government says it’s making them fairer, and that 3 out of 4 firms will not see an increase.  Business groups, on the other hand, have condemned the changes as ‘outrageous.’
