Tandridge District Council has unveiled the first images of the planned improvements for Oxted town centre.
The changes will be funded from income generated from car parking charges subject to approval at the meeting of the Full Council on Thursday. Income from parking will go towards running the car parks which currently cost the Council over £120,000 a year as well as funding the ambitious Urban Redesign Project for Station Road East and West.
Following discussions with the Oxted Business Improvement District, the Council will now also recommend free parking on Saturdays, free parking in the Oxted Health Centre car park for surgery users, and additional permits for local businesses.
The Oxted and Limpsfield Residents’ Group has campaigned to increase the 1 hour free parking period to 2 hours and will present a petition to the Council Leader at Thursday’s Full Council meeting.
Parking in Oxted Town Centre has previously been free of charge.
