The centre is a dedicated area for patients who need day case or short stay surgery. Mr Alan James, Clinical Lead General Surgery, Breast and Vascular said that due to changes in surgical techniques and recovery options, more and more operations can be done as day cases or very short stays.
Ian Mackenzie, Director of Information and Facilities said that the new £1.7 million surgery centre has taken just six months to build.
The new state of the art centre has two procedure rooms, three consultation rooms, recovery and trolley waiting areas.
