Sussex Police has warned that fraudsters purporting to be police officers, other officials or tradesmen are currently active in the Crawley area.
This follows a recent incident where a 66 year old Crawley man was conned out of £19,000. Sussex Police is keen to alert other elderly or vulnerable people and their relatives to the scam. Previously, both phone calls and personal contact have been used to dupe victims. Banks in Crawley have also been put on their guard to watch out for cash transactions which appear suspicious.
Anyone who believes they may have fallen victim to fraudsters or has other information should call 101 quoting Operation Signature.
