Surrey County Council has backed a campaign to press for investment on the Brighton mainline rail service.
The Council has joined the Brighton Mainline Alliance; a group of organisations and businesses spearheaded by the Coast to Capital local enterprise partnership.
East Croydon station is one of the alliance’s targets for investment to provide two extra platforms. Other targets include an extra platform at Reigate Station to allow Thameslink services to run there.
The Brighton line passes through East Surrey on its way to London and serves, Salfords, Horley, Redhill and Merstham as well as Gatwick Airport.
