Residents in Mole Valley witnessed first-hand the effects of an earthquake on Easter Sunday.
The earthquake, which hit 2.7 on the Richter scale took place just after midday and was centred in Stan Hill. Many people reported houses shaking and windows rattling – some reported hearing noises sounding like an explosion.
Earthquakes in the UK are not uncommon, however it’s rare to get one in Surrey.
Our presenter Annie Whitmore spoke to Professor Richard Selley, President of the Mole Valley Geological Society to find out more about this rare occurrence.
