A landlord from Redhill has been fined over £6,000.
Last Wednesday at Guildford Magistrates’ Court, Murtha Kehoe pleaded guilty to owning and managing an unlicensed house in multiple occupation since May 2016. Mr Kehoe had not submitted another licence application after the original licence expired. He was fined £5,000 as well as the Council’s legal costs of £1,000, and £120 to the victim support fund.
The semi detached property in Trindles Road in South Nutfield has six bedsit rooms and a one bedroomed flat. The condition of the property deteriorated and despite improvement notices issued by the council, only minimal improvements were carried out. Council officers concluded the property was not suitable to be occupied by six people; the property was in a poor state of repair and facilities provided were inadequate.
