There will be no access to or from Gatwick Airport via the M23 for 36 hours from late Friday until Sunday afternoon.
Both the southbound and northbound exit slip roads will be closed for traffic and there’ll be no access into Gatwick Airport from junction 9. There is expected to be major disruption during the work from 10 pm on Friday until midday on Sunday. The M23 main carriageway will be open for traffic in both directions and there will be a fully signed diversion route in place.
From junction 10 of the M23 to Gatwick a diversion will be in place via the A2011, A23 and Airport Way leading to the North and South terminals. To get to the M25 from the airport, traffic will be diverted via the A264 and A22 towards Godstone joining the M25 at junction 6.
The closure is due to ongoing work on upgrading the 11 mile stretch of the M23 between junction 8 near Merstham and junction 10 at Copthorne to an all-lane running smart motorway.
