Horley Town Council has commented about the recent damage to the town’s War Memorial.
The Memorial, which is situated in the Memorial Gardens in Brighton Road, was damaged by fire early on Thursday morning. The Town Council has praised the prompt action and thoughtfulness of residents who carried out an initial clean-up. In a statement on its website, Horley Town Council says the park’s contractors will arrange for it to be fully restored with professional equipment and therefore asks that no further cleaning is carried out by the public.
The incident has been reported to Surrey Police.
