A local airport has become the first in the UK to use facial-recognition cameras.

Gatwick confirmed it will have ID checks before passengers board planes following on from a trial carried out in partnership with EasyJet last year.

The airport said the technology should reduce queuing times but travellers would still need to carry passports.
