Opponents of drilling at Horse Hill near Horley took part in a peaceful demonstration at the site on Saturday. 

Horse Hill Rebel Alliance has criticised Surrey County Council for declaring a climate emergency but weeks later approving drilling of an additional five wells and long-term oil production at the site for 25 years. 

Horizontal drilling on the second oil exploration well at Horse Hill is now underway.
