A man taking part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run has sadly died following a collision between his vintage car and a lorry.
The 80 year old man, driving a 1903 Knox Runabout Old Porcupine vintage car, died at the scene of the crash on the M23 near Hooley yesterday morning. His female passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The man’s next of kin have been informed.
The road was closed in both directions while the air ambulance and emergency services attended the scene.
Organisers of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run have confirmed that the car was taking part in the annual event. They said the car had “left the route, which does not include the M23, when the crash took place”.
