Tributes have been paid to one of Redhill and Reigate’s most recognisable characters, who sadly died over the weekend.

Derek Primmer was affectionately known by many as the ‘Gangster Grandad’ for his colourful dress sense. He was a popular and well-recognised face in the towns, where his eye-catching attires meant he was often stopped for photos by passers-by.

Tributes paid on social media called him a legend, and thanked him for making everyone in the town smile.
