A man was robbed in East Grinstead by two men on a motorbike carrying what appeared to be an air rifle in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 20-year-old victim was approached by the pair on Lewes Road, close to the junction with Herontye Drive at about 12.30am. They allegedly threatened him with a weapon and demanded he hand over his belongings before heading off toward Ashurst Wood.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a firearm and of a Class B drug. He remains in custody for questioning.
