A murder investigation is underway after the body of an 88-year-old man was found in Godstone.

The body of the man, who has not been formally identified, was discovered at a home in Bletchingley Road on Monday morning.

Police closed one lane of the A25 while they investigated the scene and a post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Pirie assured residents that officers are doing all they can to establish the cause of the man’s death and asked anyone with information to get in touch on 101
