Surrey’s charities are facing unprecedented funding challenges, which are forcing some to close services or shut down altogether.
A survey from Surrey Community Action has found that 90% of charities and not-for profit groups in the voluntary, community and faith sector are set to lose money this year and less than half are confident that they will survive the crisis.
On top of that, two-thirds of those surveyed said they have had to cut some or all of their services during the crisis.
While the pandemic has created new ways of working for some groups, Surrey Community Action Chief Executive Jason Gaskell said the county’s charities face a long and deep recession after the pandemic.
