More than 780 people have signed a petition to save the Longmead Adult Education Centre in Redhill from demolition.

The building is scheduled to be knocked down, with plans in place to build affordable homes on the site.

But a petition set up by local community members including councillor Jonathan Essex is calling on Surrey County Council to save the site and transform it into a community hub.

Last night, the petition, which is open until 4 June, had got 787 signatures.
