Food warehouse moves out of Harlequin Theatre

For more than four months the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill had a new role as the borough’s Community Support Centre. With the easing of lockdown restrictions, the theatre is no longer required as a food distribution warehouse and the service it provided has been moved to other local premises.

Whilst carrying out this important role during Covid-19, over 48,000 grocery items were delivered from the Harlequin Theatre to local food banks and over 2,000 emergency food boxes were packed and delivered.  The kitchens were also used to prepare and deliver over 7,000 hot meals.

It formed a vital part of the Council’s emergency food response for residents who were at high risk and needed to stay at home.

The Council is working with local partners and volunteers to make sure vulnerable and high-risk residents continue to receive the support they need and access the benefits they are entitled to. The online directory on the Council website https://www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/ineedhelp brings together the help available across the borough.
