More than £20,000 has been raised in memory of Matiu Ratana, the police officer and East Grinstead rugby coach who died following a shooting in Croydon.

A JustGiving page has been set up in memory of the officer.

The fund set up by the Met’s Hayes Sports Club, known as The Warren, initially had a target of £10,000 but this was quickly exceeded as donations came in.

A man is on bail until late October while detectives investigate the incident which happened at a custody centre.
