UK Oil and Gas has given up its licence to drill at Holmwood in Surrey.

The announcement has been welcomed by campaigners who have been against the proposed site near Leith Hill beauty spot.

In a statement the energy company said after a study they’ve found the area to be ‘neither technically viable or economically feasible.’

UK Oil and Gas will continue working at Horse Hill near Horley.
