Council agrees on budget savings

Crawley Borough Council has agreed a range of significant savings to mitigate the impact of coronavirus.

Despite grants from central government helping to cover part of the council’s costs there was a budget gap of more than £2m.

Following a large public consultation, the Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet have agreed to close the adventure playgrounds in Broadfield and Bewbush,  while Cherry Lane and Waterlea Adventure Playgrounds will be converted into unsupervised play areas.

They will also close all five fee-charging ‘superloos’ in Crawley.

Community and voluntary grant funding will also be reduced.
