From midnight on Sunday 20 December, a new ‘Tier 4: Stay At Home’ category was introduced applying to all areas of Surrey with the exception of Waverley.
West Sussex remains in the ‘Tier 2: HIGH’ category.
In ‘Tier 4’ areas, all non-essential retail will have to close, along with hairdressers, nail bars, indoor gyms and leisure facilities.
People will be advised not to travel into or out of a ‘Tier 4’ area.
Those in ‘Tier 4’ cannot mix indoors with anyone not from their household.
A stay-at-home order will be issued to residents in ‘Tier 4’, with those travelling to work or for education exempt.
Social mixing will be cut to meeting one person in an open public space.
People in ‘Tier 4’ areas will no longer be allowed to form “Christmas bubbles” with other households, but outside of the South East people will still be allowed to mix in private homes with up to two other households, but now only on Christmas Day.
