Mr Smith whose constituency includes Gatwick airport said the agreement between the UK and EU on how to trade from 1 January 2021 looks excellent and is good for Crawley’s economy.

“Thanks to the Transport Under Secretary of State for briefing me this evening on today’s UK/EU post-Brexit agreement. Looks like an excellent result for aviation and road haulage which will have unfettered movement and access; both sectors are vital parts of the Crawley economy”.

Reigate and Banstead MP Crispin Blunt echoed Mr Smith’s praise of the deal, saying, “I believe we now have a basis for long term friendship and partnership with the EU as sovereign equals”.

While, East Surrey MP Claire Coutinho described the deal along with the beginning of the UK’s vaccination programme, “much needed good news to end 2020”.
