Gatwick Airport will introduce a £5 charge for vehicles dropping off passengers outside the North Terminal.
The charges will start on 8th March. The £5 charge allows vehicles 10 minutes in the drop off zone and a further pound for every additional minute up to 20 minutes. Blue badge holders will be exempt if they register their vehicle in advance online. Gatwick hopes the measures will reduce congestion in the area from the number of ‘Kiss and Fly’ journeys, once travel resumes after the lockdown. The charge will create a new revenue stream for the airport to help protect jobs at the airport.
Two hours free parking is available at the airport’s long stay car parks with a free shuttle bus to the terminal.
The charge will be extended to South terminal drop offs at a later date.
