West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service have welcomed six new retained (on-call) recruits to the service.
The new recruits have all successfully completed their two-week initial training course and were formally welcomed to the service during a pass-out parade held at Horley Fire Station.
A retained firefighter usually can be in full time employment elsewhere in the community, but live or work within close proximity to one of the service’s fire stations. When they are on duty, they can be paged at any time to respond to an emergency situation.
