Parents of students locked in Crawley college amid reports of gunshots have been speaking about how they feared the worst.
Many received texts from their children saying there was a ‘shooting at the college’ as they hid in classrooms while armed police cordoned off the area on Monday.
One mother spoke of how the messages coming through painted a ‘dreadful picture’.
Many turned to Facebook where photos of the ongoing incident were being uploaded.

18-year old Sandijis Dreimanis is currently in custody on charges of possession of an imitation firearm and two counts of assault and possession of a bladed article on a school premises.
He’s due at Lewes Crown Court in a month’s time.
