Schoolchildren hospitalised

Surrey Police are asking parents to urgently speak to their children about the dangers of “edibles”.

It follows after two 12-year-olds and a 13-year-old were taken to hospital after suffering a violent reaction from eating jelly sweets that they believed contained cannabis. A fourth child was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

It’s been suggested that the sweets may have been supplied to the children at the Court Recreation Ground in Epsom. However, officers are investigating all leads at present and wanted to make the safety of other children a priority, by getting parents to talk to them.

It’s expected that all four children will be able to leave hospital shortly as they are not thought to have suffered any long-term ill-effects.
