Yesterday marked a significant milestone in the move out of Coronavirus restrictions with Gatwick Airport reporting a total of 57 flights taking off, with almost half going to green list countries.
Now that nearly 70% of the UK’s adult population has had their first dose of a Covid vaccine, the airport says this is just a fraction of the 830 flights they saw on the same day in 2019.
CEO of Gatwick, Stewart Wingate said, “It’s going to be a slow, steady start but we expect more destinations will be added to the Green list as soon as it is safe to do so.”
