High levels of fly tipping have led to the closure of a recycling site near Banstead Woods.
Holly Lane recycling site will be closed permanently from next Thursday. The borough’s 24 recycling sites are attracting huge volumes of commercial and trade waste as well as non-recyclable household rubbish. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council estimates around 70% of the dumped waste at these locations is made up of items that cannot be recycled there.
Councillors have reminded residents that leaving items at the sites that are not recyclable is fly tipping; an offence that can incur a fine or prosecution.
