The Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance charity says that 2021 has been its busiest year.
The pre-hospital emergency service was called to just under 3,000 incidents; just over 1,800 by helicopter and 1,000 in Rapid Response Vehicles. This is an 18% increase from 2020 and the highest demand for the service in its 32 year history. The highest number of call outs was to Road Traffic Collisions, followed by medical emergencies and accidental injuries. The majority of patients were under 60.
The CEO of the charity has urged people to continue to support the KSS Air Ambulance; 88% of its funds are raised through public donations and fundraising.
